Scottish TerrierTherapy Dog THDX
Meet Monty…. Monty is a wheaten Scottie (wheaten is a cream, light wheat color). This wheaten wonder is happy, social and fun. Monty has been with the Krapf family almost from the day after he arrived on this earth. Second youngest of six, Monty is the little rascal of the family. He has a bossy streak, holding his own with two older girls and three older boys. He is thrilled to be with his “people”, is playful, happy, and is ready to hang with the guys.
But his best traits are his wonderful temperament, his incredible ability to make friends, and his willingness to be a happy participant. He has an innate instinct to focus on the needs of individuals and is truly a one-of-a-kind little soul. He loves people of all ages and loves spending time with people of all generations, ages and differences. Now you’ll learn why Monty is so special and why his temperament is so perfect for his work.
Monty likes to make sure all of his therapies are fun. He truly believes that everything is a big game and wonders what he can do for you today. That is why he is so good at therapy. He loves to play with kids and loves to be with kids.
Monty loves agility. He did a lot of training with his mom and dad and loves to play in agility trials.
Monty is also crazy about scent work! He loves doing his scent training and is always eager to find those scents.
Monty has earned MANY awards over the years, and has some impressive titles! Some of the awards Monty has earned include: STAR Puppy, TKN, CGC, BCAT, DCAT, FCAT2, BN, RI, CGCA, RA, NA, RATO, THDX.
One of Monty’s favorite things to do is to process with his dad at his college’s commencement. Monty has given much to St. Luke’s Hospital and the patients there, and spends many hours with them.
Monty (and we) love Halloween! Monty gets very excited about putting his costume on and going trick-or-treat.
Monty and Tracy were featured at Lehigh Valley International Airport as part of the C.O.P.E. therapy dog program. He flew for the first time to Branson for the FastCAT Invitational — and slept through the flight. In rally, Tracy calls it his “Scottitude” — high, but he keeps going.
Normally only the top five dogs in each breed are invited to the FastCAT National Invitational, but for 2026 the AKC had a last-minute change of venue and some of the top five backed out, so they opened it to the top ten to get a bigger turnout. At the Invitational, Monty “was FOCUSED on that lure and ran great.” After a whirlwind summer following Monty and his owners around the country, Branson was “a great climax to his Fast CAT career” — then in Montgomery he finished more agility titles and received the Scottish Terrier Club of America’s Outstanding Performance award (34 points).
